About Me

My photo
I'm like any other uni student. I like clubbing, parties with friends and surfing if I can get a chance. I grew up in Townsville and miss my great friends there, the strand and maggie, but I still get time to have fun in brissie. I'm studying Civil and Construction Engineering at QUT, and I'm finding it a lot more interesting than most people would think. I'm also doing a mining minor at UQ at the same time so that I can work in the mining industry. I hope to work on mine sites once I graduate, because I love the friendliness in small towns, and it's always more fun to brag about being involved in massive projects. Drop me an email at andrea.dale@connect.qut.edu.au if you want to know more :)

Cobar

I lasted 2.5weeks of uni before skipping any lectures. That's a record for me. I usually skip the first week. I'm lucky I've got great friends to take notes for me in the classes I miss. It does usually mean I get the worst jobs of group work though, which is fair enough. I left Brissie early Wednesday morning to drive the 14hrs to Cobar. I drove past some interesting things, and some very uninteresting parts. Driving through Millmerran was very cool - Commodore Mine is there, which is the first mine site I ever went to. I drove past the bakery where we bought half the shop for the boys on site, then hit quite a few hours of nothing. No towns, no -working- toilets. Nothing much worse than having to go bush and then a caravan pulls in next to you, and there is PLENTY of room. Anyway, nothing says it like the pics.

I love this one. That is a Macca's in the middle of a long stretch of farms.

I am so sick of caravans!!!!! They make the trip so long, and they never seem to have the common sense to pull over in the stopping zones, even when there is a massive line up behind them, due to their speed of 80km/hr in a 110 zone. Grrrrr!

Millmerran

My view for a few hundred km's. I didn't mind though - if there was any wildlife, chances are he would hit it and not me. In my little Corolla, I was not keen on hitting any surprises.

Who doesn't like a bit of machinery? At least it gave me something to look at.

I had better run and go to my lecture. I was up to Goondiwindi at this stage.
