About Me

My photo
I'm like any other uni student. I like clubbing, parties with friends and surfing if I can get a chance. I grew up in Townsville and miss my great friends there, the strand and maggie, but I still get time to have fun in brissie. I'm studying Civil and Construction Engineering at QUT, and I'm finding it a lot more interesting than most people would think. I'm also doing a mining minor at UQ at the same time so that I can work in the mining industry. I hope to work on mine sites once I graduate, because I love the friendliness in small towns, and it's always more fun to brag about being involved in massive projects. Drop me an email at andrea.dale@connect.qut.edu.au if you want to know more :)

Grad applications

After spending a good portion of the day on graduate applications, I'm glad that I don't have to submit too many applications. Due to the booming mining economy, there's a lot more jobs available than there are qualified people. That means that most grads should get jobs offered to them pretty easily. I decided to choose my preferred employers, and have pretty high hopes that I will get offers from both of the companies that I have applied to. Just two applications took quite a while, so I'm glad that I am graduating in such a great climate for engineering graduates. Four years ago was very different.

Back to uni on Monday for me. I bought some note books today, and fixed my push bike so I guess I'm ready. I'm even back in time for the start of semester, which has not always been the case with Vacation Work periods. This year I have a pretty scary structural subject, along with my final year project and mining subjects. It might be a bit difficult to get back into uni life after more than a year away, working. I've already managed to get used to living in Brisbane again quite easily, so shouldn't be too hard.

Christmas Party Pics

I'm loving the time off XD. I'm pretty excited about heading to Bali on Saturday too. The only negative things at the moment is that I have an assignment due Friday :(. My procrastination power has kicked in, so my bike has been thoroughly serviced, and I just found some pics from the work Christmas party in Moranbah. Just a warning before you see the photos: This was my first time golfing, so scoring was not used...

Happy Gilmore style ;) It actually seemed to work for me. Slightly.

Pretty hard ground, and apparently a tee is only used at 'tee-off'. Makes sense in hindsight...
